For Akash Kumar and Rohit Sehwag, basketball is more than a sport. It is a journey built on discipline, consistency and the courage to continue moving forward.
Akash Kumar’s journey has taken him from competitive basketball to becoming a coach and mentor. His experience in 3×3 basketball and international competition helped shape his understanding of the game, while his transition into coaching gave him a new purpose—developing young athletes.
As an NIS-certified basketball coach and the founder of Skyblaze Academy, Akash Kumar focuses on helping players improve their technical skills while also developing confidence, discipline and game intelligence.
Rohit Sehwag’s journey has followed a different path but is guided by many of the same values.
Born in Haryana and raised in an armed-forces family, Rohit grew up surrounded by sport and discipline. His father served in the Indian Navy and was a professional wrestler, while his younger brother is a national-level swimmer.
Rohit discovered basketball in 2013 during his school years in Visakhapatnam. What started as encouragement from family friends eventually developed into a long-term sporting journey.
From school-level national competition to playing basketball during his graduation in Goa, Rohit continued to develop his game. His experience as an NCC Naval Wing cadet further strengthened his belief in discipline and consistency.
After moving to Pune, he built a career in real estate while continuing to pursue basketball. Today, he plays shooting guard for Skyblaze Academy and has participated in FIBA 3×3 tournaments.
Akash Kumar represents the mentor helping players build their future. Rohit Sehwag represents the athlete who continues to chase his dreams.
Together, their stories highlight an important message for young athletes: success is not defined only by where you begin, but by your willingness to keep learning, working and moving forward.
