CA Firms Don’t Need Another Accounting Software. FynHelp Is Betting Its Launch on It

Instead of asking firms to switch, the new Bengaluru startup sits on top of Tally and Zoho Books and does the work in between.

Ask a CA partner whether they’d move sixty clients to a new accounting software, and watch their face. The answer usually arrives before the question is finished.

It isn’t stubbornness. It’s arithmetic. Every migration means data to move, staff to retrain, clients to convince and months of running two systems side by side. Most clients chose their own software anyway, and they aren’t asking to change it.

Yet for years, the default pitch to Indian CA firms has been some version of “switch to us.” FynHelp, a Bengaluru-based startup that launched publicly on October 30, 2026, starts from the opposite assumption: the ledger is fine where it is. The problem is everything around it.

Where the real work lives

Tally and Zoho Books are good at what they were built for. They keep ledgers, raise invoices and produce statutory reports reliably. What they were never designed to do is the messy work before and after an entry.

That work looks like this. Reading a scanned bank statement. Working out which receipt settles which invoice. Explaining why the bank balance and the books disagree. Checking that purchases in the books match what suppliers filed on the GST portal. Writing the narration a partner needs before signing a client’s MIS.

In most firms, this lives in Excel, email threads and the heads of a few experienced people. It’s also where most of the hours in a month-end close actually go.

A new accounting product doesn’t remove that work. It just moves it to a different screen.

The layer, not the ledger

FynHelp’s answer is an AI intelligence layer for Tally and Zoho Books. Its agents extract data from bank statements, invoices and GST documents. They reconcile books against bank and against GST. They surface only the exceptions that need a person, and they generate MIS and narration packs where every figure links to its source document.

The design rests on a few deliberate choices.

  • It never writes to the ledger. Entries are still posted by the firm’s own team. That keeps control, and accountability, with the people who sign.
  • It works across both systems. Most practices serve clients on Tally and on Zoho Books. A layer that sits above both fits how firms already operate.
  • It shows exceptions, not everything. The point is to shrink the pile a person has to look at, not to add another dashboard.
  • Every number is traceable. A partner can open any figure and see the document behind it.
  • It’s priced per client, not per seat. FynHelp charges per active client entity with unlimited users, so firms don’t ration access to save money.

“Firms have spent years being told their software is the problem,” says Tarun Adireddy, co-founder and CEO. “It isn’t. The problem is the hours between the documents and the ledger. That’s where our agents work.”

Why this category is forming now

Two things have changed. AI has become good enough to read the unstructured documents Indian businesses actually produce, from scanned PDFs to photos of bills. And CA firms are under more pressure than ever, with more clients, tighter GST compliance and young talent less willing to spend years on manual matching.

Finance teams elsewhere are already there. Gartner’s 2024 survey of finance leaders found that 39 percent of finance functions use AI to spot anomalies and errors in large sets of data like invoices and expenses. Reconciliation is that same job, done every month.

Put those together and a layer that does the in-between work starts to look more practical than any migration.

FynHelp built toward this by starting with conversations with practising CAs, not with a product idea.

Questions firms should ask any layer

FynHelp won’t be the only company to take this path, so it’s worth knowing what to look for. Does the tool write to your books, and if so, who controls it? Can a partner trace every output to a source document? Does it handle your messiest clients, not just the tidy ones? Is pricing tied to your clients or to your headcount? And does it work across the software your clients actually use?

Those questions favour tools that respect how firms already work. That, in the end, is the bet FynHelp is making with this launch: that the next big shift in Indian accounting won’t come from replacing the ledger, but from finally helping with everything around it.
